This project involved revitalizing Green Gables, a one-and-a-half-storey wood-frame house with a basement, located in the Upper Lonsdale neighbourhood of the District of North Vancouver. The original house was designed by Architect James Clark Mackenzie and constructed in 1915, a period of marked expansion and development of North Vancouver.
Through a heritage revitalization agreement, its restoration and relocation accommodated four separate lots through subdivision, including the parcel on which it would sit. This enabled increased density and its conservation as a significant piece of regional heritage.
The lifting of the house provided an opportunity to reconfigure and reconstruct the basement foundation and servicing. The entire exterior was carefully restored, and the interior refurbished to accommodate modern present-day residential use.
